Abstract :

Background: Alloy-glass ionomer restoration is one of several filling material that containing powder of silver alloy and glass ionomer and polyacrylate liquid. The difficulties of alloy-glass ionomer manipulation was measuring the powder to get the exact alloy-glass ionomer ratio for excellent restoration. Purpose: This study was to compare the compressive strength of alloy-glass ionomer with 5% and 10% powder of alloy reduction. Methods: Eighteen silinder samples 8 mm in diameter and 4 mm in height  of Miracle Mix (GC-Japan) as an alloy-glass ionomer were made from 3 groups which were treated with 5% powder of alloy reduction, with 10% powder of alloy reduction, and with no reduction respectively. The compressive strength was performed using a Shimadzu Autograph AG-10TE machine. Results: The results showed that the reduction powder of alloy ratio from Miracle Mix either 5% or 10% will reduced the compressive strength. Conclusions: It can be concluded that the compressive alloy glass ionomer strength of depend on the  amount of alloy powder.
