Efforts to decrease antibiotic medication by behavioral intention

Abstract :
This research aims to formulate efforts to decrease antibiotic medication to nonpneuumonia Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI), non-specific Diarrhea and "Myalgia" at city and Bima Regency Puskesmas (Public Health Center). This is an analytic study conducted cross sectional. Research location is the municipality and Bima Regency area. The population is taken from all medical personnel i.e. doctors in all Puskesmas of the city as well as in the regency of Bima amounting to 56 people with total sampling method. Data processing and analysis is performed quantitatively. Attitude and subjective norm had significant influence on the intention to administer antibiotics to non-pneumonia URTI, non-specific Diarrhea and "Myalgia" (p<0.05). Based on influence β=0.561. Efforts to decrease antibiotic medication are: a) persuative communication by sharing knowladge in a periodic meetings by either medical official or profession organizatio; b) medical audit to compare therapy effectiveness with antibiotic; c) to periodically review the guideline for antibiotic usage, minimum once every two years in achieving a new norms for doctors in doing therapy; d) correlated with doctors subjective norm to treat non-pneumonia URTI, non-specific diarrhea and "Myalgia".
