Abstract :

The objective of this study is to arrange recommendation on social advertising for prescreening, screening, surgery,and cleft lips post-surgery for parents of children with cleft lips in Surabaya. This is a descriptive observational study.The sample of this study is thirty-seven parents whose children have undergone a surgery and eleven parents whosechildren have not undergone a surgery. This study analyzes factors of children, parents, social value, existing and expectedsocial advertising, and the effect of advertising with the methods of Attention, Interest, Desire, Action (AIDA) model. Theanalysis of social issues shows positive value about prescreening, screening, and surgery, and negative value in controlphase. The analysis of advertising effect based on AIDA model reveals that the attention has already been good, thereis no interest in the control, whereas for desire, there are still no willingness in screening and control phases. The effectof advertising is that as many as 8.3% parents are not interested in doing screening, 12% do not undergo or have notundergone surgery, and as many as 59.5% do not undergo or have not undergone control after the stitching removal.Recommendation on social advertising of cleft lips in Surabaya area is to use informational approach strategy.
