Abstract :
Kata Kunci: Variasi Biologis, adaptasi, konstitusi tubuh Abstract In Indonesia, there were three races namely Protomalayid, Deutromalayid, and Dayakid. Research regarding the population in Indonesia which discussed races by the aspects of body constitution was still slight, hence the objective of this research was to find out how the body constitution variation on Protomalayid sub race represented by Tengger population and Deutromalayid sub race represented Javanese population and to discover whether there were differences in body constitution variations between both populations. The samples consisted of 60 people from Tengger and 60 people from Java and they were categorized into 30 men and 30 women. The variables which would be measured were height, weight, chest size, and subcostal wide angle. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics crosstabs and Chi-Square. The measurement results for Tengger population and Javanese population indicated that there were three body constitution variations namely leptosom, athletic, and picnic. The result of Chi-Square based on Rohrer Index and subcostal wide angle classification demonstrated that there were no body constitution differences between Tengger population and Javanese population. The lack of differences in body constitution between Tengger population and Javanese population were probably caused by gene flow. The conclusion presented that there was no significant difference towards body constitution between Tengger population and Javanese population. Keywords: Biological variation, adaptation, body constitution.
