Abstract :

Introduction: Diarrhea is a cause the death of infant in Indonesia. Health problems such as diarrhea can be prevented, through one of the mothers the healthy behavior and participate in maintaining environmental sanitation. The number of diarrhea of infants in Mulyorejo health center had an increased in 2012-2013. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors of mother behavior in the prevention of diarrhea in 1-3 years old children by WHO behavioral theory approach in the area of Mulyorejo health center. Methods: This study is a descriptive analytical cross-sectional design. The populations in this study are the mothers of 1-3 years old children (toddler) who live in Mulyorejo health center areas. The samples with 37 respondents who calculated using purposive sampling. The analysis with the statistical test of Spearman's rho correlation. Result: Result indicated that there is a relationship between the knowledge of mother with the behavioral of diarrhea prevention (p=0.000), relationship between the attitude of mother with the behavioral of diarrhea prevention (p=0.001), relationship between the availability of Clean Water Facility (SAB) which is owned by mothers with the behavior of diarrhea prevention (p =0.001), relationship between the condition of feces banishment facility that is owned by motherwith the behavior of diarrhea prevention (p=0.001). Discussion: The conclusion of this study is that the knowledge, the attitudes and the infrastructure that is owned by mother relate and encourage the prevention of diarrhea in 1-3 years old children. From this study, it is advisable to increase and retain the knowledge and the attitude of mothers to increase the behavior of diarrhea prevention that is conducted by mother through Posyandu and to form the cadre of environment in order to improve the knowledge and the understanding of environmental sanitation, both of Clean Water Facility (SAB) and the facility of feces banishment.
