Antibacterial action of glass ionomer cement after immersed in buffer solution ph 4, ph 6,7 and ph 8

      Abstract :

      Antibacterial action of glass ionomer cement light cure could be used to reduce the amount of Streptococcus mutans colony. Whereas it could prevent from secondary caries. This study used the glass ionomer cement light cure sample immersed in buffer solution in pH 4, pH 6,7 and pH 8 for 24 hours, and than the sample was grown on media with Streptococcus mutans. Inhibitory effect of bacteria growth was showed by inhibitory zone. The result of the study showed that antibacterial action of glass ionomer cement light cure immersed in buffer pH 4 was less than immersed in buffer pH 6,7. Whereas antibacterial action of glass ionomer cement light cure which is immersed in buffer pH 6,7 is less than immesed in buffer pH 8.
