Author :

      Abstract :

Denture stomatitis is term used to describe certain pathological changes in the oral mucous of the denture bearing tissues. The incidence of denture stomatitis in Indonesia has not been known yet but in other countries, that the prevalence of denture stomatitis is between 27-67% among the denture wearing patients has been reported. Denture is not the only aetiology of denture stomatitis. More over, Budtz-Jorgensenreported that denture stomatitis can be due to infection, trauma, denture wearing continuously, lack of oral hygiene, allergy, and systemic factors, which affect clinical appearances and histopathological features. The aim of this literature study is to give information about the cause of denture stomatitis and the way to treat it. As aresult its treatment should be related to the aetiology.
