Malocclusion severity assessment using occlusal index and par index

      Abstract :

      Two orthodontist judged 114 study models for malocclusion severity, both orthodontist judged 42 study models as moderate malocclusion and 43 study models as severe malocclusion. Eighty five study models were then assessed by the author using occlusal index and PAR index respectively. The result showed that the PAR index had a higher accordance with the 2 orthodontists in assessing the malocclusion severity compared to the occlusal index. There was statistically significant difference between occlusal index and PAR index in assessing moderate malocclusion and the whole sample.
