Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pulpal sensitivity after inlay was cemented with zinc phosphate comparated with glass ionomer luting cements. Participants were 30 patients with inlay restoration at the mandibular first or second molars. The teeth were diagnosed reversible pulpitis and the depth of the cavity was about 2 mm from pulpal wall. The age of the patients ranged between 18-30 years old and was divided into two groups consisting 15 teeth each. The first group the inlay was cemented with zinc phosphate cements and the second group was cemented with glass ionomer luting cements. The pulpal sensitivity was determined before and after cementation with manual electric pulp tester (EPT). The comparison between the two cements was confirmed with t tests for independent samples at the < 0.05 confidence level. The result of this study indicates that there were statistically differences at post cementation with zinc phosphate and glass ionomer luting cement (p = 0.02). From this study can be concluded that inlay cementation with zinc phosphate cement caused more pulpal sensititivity increase compared with glass ionomer luting cement.
