Abstract :
Denture is a site in witch microorganism gathered, it can raise disorder in oral cavity. The adherence of microorganism on the denture is influenced by the roughness of denture base. Streptococcus mutans is a microorganism that mostly forms teeth plaque. The purpose of this study is to investigate surface roughness of heat cured acrylic resin plate by conventional curing process compared to microwave curing regarding the adherence of S. mutans. The surface roughness of the specimens is measured using rockiness tester. The number of S. mutans adhered to the specimens is counted by scanning electronic microscope. The result indicates that the surface of acrylic resin plate by conventional curing is rougher than of the microwave curing. There is no significant difference of adherence of S. mutans on acrylic plate by conventional curing and microwave curing after inoculation with C. albicans.
