The effectiveness of acrylic resin immersion time in coleus amboinicus, lour leaves concentrate towards candida albicans existence

      Abstract :

      One of the ways to prevent denture stomatitis is immersing acrylic resin denture in denture cleanser solution. Currently Indonesia encourages the use of medical herbal. Coleus amboinicus, Lour or Daun jinten is one of medical herbal commonly planted and grew in the garden. A laboratory experimental study conducted to investigate the effectiveness of acrylic resin immersion time in Coleus amboinicus, Lour leaves concentrate solution towards Candida albicans existence. Samples of this study are 10 x 10 x 1 mm heat cured acrylic plates immersed in 15% concentrate of Coleus amboinicus, Lour leaves solution in exercises of 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 120 minutes immersion times. Sterilized aquadest was used as control. 16 samples were used for each exercise. Statistical tests used are t test, One-way ANOVA and HSD with 5% significance degree. The result showed that the longer immersion time of acrylic resin in Coleus amboinicus, Lour leaves concentrate will reduce the Candida albicans existence. The conclusion is 120 minutes of immersion time is the most effective in reducing Candida albicans colonies on acrylic resin surfaces.
