The most safety for operator on dental radiography

Author :

      Abstract :

X Ray is a kind of electromagnetic radiation which has sufficient to cause ionization of living tissue. As the result of this ionizing effect, cellular and tissue changes may occur regardless of the exposure dose. Therefore, a particular attention should be paid to the safety and health of workers exposed to X Ray radiation. The aim of this experimental study was to determine the most effective and safe position of the operators might receive the lowest exposure dose. The experiment has been done on 105 patients who was exposed twice a day on the angle of 900, 1050, 1200, 1350, 1500, 1650 and 1800 respectively on one and two metres distances. Statistic analyse using by Two Way Anova with significant level of 5%, there was the interaction between angle and distance with p < 0,05 among the mean values of exposure dose. It has been concluded that most effective and safe position is at the angle of 1050 and distance of 2 metres. At this position the exposure dose is 1269,54 mrad/year below the recommended standard adopted by Directoral General of BATAN 5000 mrad/year.
