Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal adaptation of the composite restorations prepared using acid-etched technic and those prepared without acid-etched technic. The samples used in this study were the class V cavities which were made in 48 human upper premolars. These samples were divided into four groups of twelve each. The first (A), second (B), third (A1) and fourth (B1) group was restored using self-cured composites without applying acid-etched technic, light-cured composites without applying acid-etched technic, self-cured composites by applying acid-etched technic and light-cured composites by applying acid-etched technic consecutively. The marginal adaptation of each restoration was assessed using a dye penetration method. The data obtained was statistically analyzed with student t-test. The result of the study showed that the composites restored without applying acid-etched technic were significantly had higher penetration of the dye compared to the composites restored by applying acid-etched technic. It can be concluded that the use of etching technic will improve the marginal adaptation of both the self-cured and the light cured composite restorations.
