Tunnel restoration on posterior tooth

Author :

      Abstract :

In every day dental practice we often find interproximal carious lesion which has already reached the depth of dentin structure, but the occlusal surface is still intact and in a good condition especially the proximal margin. In this case it can be prepared with a tunnel restoration through the fossa on the occlusal surface without damaging the marginal ridge if the thickness of the marginal ridge is more than 2 mm. Dentist must be careful to detect the interproximal lesion to avoid more lesion in the future with rontgen photo. To maintain the morphology of the proximal margin dentist can prepare the cavity from the fossa in the occlusal surface without damaging the marginal ridge and then fill the cavity using combination of reinforced glass ionomer cement and hybrid composite resin In this case we must consider the principles of preparation for tunnel restoration.
