Abstract :

In Surabaya, in 2012 the highest number of accidents in the area Wonokromo. This research was conducted to determinethe relationship of behavior and health history of motorcycle driver with the incidence of traffi c accidents in the area ofpolice Wonokromo Surabaya in 2013. The methods of this study was analytic observation with a cross sectional design.Total sample 97 were selected by accidental sampling from motor cycle’s driver population in Polsek Wonokromo. Thedependent variable was the incidence of motorcycle accidents. Independent variables were gender, age, education, driverlisence and knowledge of traffi c signs, driving behavior (use of helmets, driving speeds, turning on main lamp, careless andobedience with traffi c signs), health history (drowsiness, drunk, sickness, and fatigue). The instrument of this research wasa questionnaire. Data analysis used Chi-Square test with α = 0.05. The results showed signifi cant relationship between age(p = 0.013), use of helmets (p = 0.010), drowsiness (p=0.030) and fatigue (p = 0.006). While gender (p = 0.156), education(p = 0.557), driver license (p = 0.046), knowledge of traffi c signs (p = 0.606), driving speeds (p = 0.756), turning onmain lamp (p = 0.244), careless (p = 0.027), obedience with traffi c signs (p = 0.319), drunk (p = 0.412) dan sickness(p = 0.156) was not signifi cantly associated with traffi c accident motorcycle driver in the Police Wonokromo Surabaya.The conclusion that can be drawn is that the driver behavior related to traffi c accidents in the area police WonokromoSurabaya are age and use of helmets. As for the driver's health history related to a motorcycle accident on the driver inthe area police Wonokromo Surabaya are drowsiness and fatigue.
