Abstract :
This study attempts to describe the self-acceptance of women inmate. Based on many theories about selfacceptance,it explains how the individual accept their self as they are. It means that the individual who hasself-awareness of characteristics that they have, able and willing to live with those characteristics, anindividual who is not trapped in their anger, blaming others and pitying themselves for their weakness ormisfortune. This study used the interview, Life History Questionnaire, and interview to significant others.The procedure of the selected subject in this study, it used the purposive approach. This study took sixpeople as the subjects, they were the woman inmate who is undergoing her criminal punishment at theprison class 1 in Surabaya. The finding of this study is that the self-acceptance of women inmate dependedon the factors which supported it, they were the positive view, the close family support consistently, and thegood attitude from the new surroundings, in this case it was the new environment at the prison, and also theability of good social skill. There was also an obstacle factor, it was the negative view of themselves. Thisstudy also found that the religious factor also affected the self-acceptance of each subject. Thus, the factorswhich supported the self-acceptance were came from the subject itself and the outside.
