Abstract :
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul Peran Pustakawan dan Perilaku Membaca Siswa- Siswi di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran pustakawan dan perilaku membaca siswa-siswi di SMKN 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Sidoarjo Jawa Timur, karena ingin mengetahui bagaimana peran pustakawan dan perilaku membaca siswa-siswi di SMKN 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel acak sederhana. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 100 responden siswa- siswi SMKN 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Fenomena yang terjadi saat ini adalah rendahnya minat baca di kalangan siswa- siswi Indonesia, khususnya siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan. Dalam penelitian ini memperoleh data bahwa peran pustakawan memiliki tiga (3) kategori yaitu dalam promosi perpustakaan, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo mengetahui bahwa pustakawan melakukan pemberitahuan koleksi-koleksi baru di perpustakaan dan pemberian penghargaan untuk pemustaka dilakukan 2 kali dalam 1 tahun. Dalam koleksi perpustakaan, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo sering menemukan koleksi-koleksi ter-update yang paling ditunggu dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pemustaka. Dalam kerjasama pustakawan perpustakaan sekolah dengan kepala sekolah dan guru mata pelajaran, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo memang banyak yang mengetahui bahwa Kepala Sekolah pernah menghimbau untuk memanfaatkan perpustakaan SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Selain itu, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo memang banyak yang mengetahui bahwa Guru Mata Pelajaran juga pernah menghimbau untuk memanfaatkan perpustakaan SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Selain itu juga, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo memang banyak yang mengetahui bahwa Pustakawan Perpustakaan Sekolah pun juga pernah menghimbau untuk memanfaatkan perpustakaan SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Dalam perilaku membaca siswa- siswi, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo lebih sering membaca jenis bacaan novel di perpustakaan SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Sedangkan dalam genre buku, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo paling menyukai buku yang bergenre Pengetahuan. Dalam alasan memilih genre bacaan tersebut, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo lebih memilih beralasan Isinya Menarik. Dalam perilaku membaca berdasarkan jumlah buku yang dibaca dan intensitas dalam membaca, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo adalah tipe Moderate Readers (Pembaca Agak Rutin) yaitu membaca 1 buku (dalam 1 bulan). Dalam perilaku membaca berdasarkan alokasi waktu untuk membaca, responden siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo menghabiskan waktu Kurang dari 30 Menit untuk membaca buku setiap harinya. Sedangkan, responden siswa- siswi SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo menghabiskan waktu Jarang untuk membaca Majalah atau Koran setiap harinya. Kata kunci : Siswa-Siswi SMK, Peran Pustakawan, Perilaku Membaca ABSTRACT This study is entitled Role of Librarians and Reading Behavior of Students in the State Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. This study aims to find out how the role of librarians and reading behavior of students in Buduran 3 Vocational High School in Sidoarjo. The study was conducted in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, because it wanted to know how the role of librarians and reading behavior of students in Buduran 3 Vocational High School in Sidoarjo. This research was conducted by descriptive quantitative method with a simple random sampling technique. This research was conducted on 100 respondents of students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. The current phenomenon is the low interest in reading among Indonesian students, especially Vocational High School students. In this study obtained data that the role of librarians has three (3) categories, namely in the promotion of libraries, respondents students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo know that librarians notify new collections in the library and award awards for visitors is done two times in 1 year. In the library collection, respondents from the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo often find the most awaited updated collections and according to the needs of users. In the collaboration of the school library librarians and principals and subject teachers, there were indeed many respondents of the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo who knew that the Principal had appealed to utilize the library of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. In addition, there were many respondents from Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo students who knew that Subject Teachers had also appealed to use the library of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. In addition, there were also many respondents from the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo who knew that the School Library Librarians had also appealed to use the library of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. In students' reading behavior, the respondents of the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo more often read the types of novel reading in the library of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Whereas, in the genre of books, respondents of students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo are most fond of books of the Knowledge genre. In the reason for choosing the reading genre, the respondents of the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo prefer to reason the contents are interesting. In reading behavior based on the number of books read and the intensity of reading, the respondents of the students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo are the type of Moderate Readers, which is reading 1 book (in 1 month). In reading behavior based on time allocation for reading, respondents of students of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo spend less than 30 minutes reading a book every day. Meanwhile, respondents of Vocational School 3 Buduran Sidoarjo students spend less time to read magazines or newspapers every day.
