Abstract :
During regional autonomy, land conflicts in plantation sector are mushroomed. Recent studies proved that these conflicts mostly in the form of right and interests clash between local communities-farmes-and state and/or commercial power. Several issues related to land problems are: first, land problems reductionism. Secondly, land as capital accumulation speculation apparatus. Third, massive land ownership consentration. Fourth, government “structural obligation” to accommodate foreign investor’s interest in factory building areas. For farmers, land is not only production asset with economic values, but also cultural values and inherent with their survival mechanisms in coping hardship and crisis.
