Seksisme dan seksualitas dalam lagu pop: analisis tekstual lirik lagu kelompok musik jamrud

Abstract :

The theme of Indonesia`s song lyrics mostly were about sexism and women sexuality. Women were portrayed as objects. One of the group bands that contained those theme was Jamrud.  Many critics and protests had been given to media watch to censor the songs.   However, the group was awarded a prize. Based on this background, this study looked at how the notions of sexism and woman sexuality had been articulated in the song lyrics by the Indonesian song writers. The object of this research was Jamrud`s song titled ‘Telat 3 Bulan’. The aims of this research were to analyze the image of sexism and woman sexuality in those lyrics.  The author used gender perspective and discourse analysis to unpack the meaning lied behind the creation of the lyrics in terms of women and sexuality.  The methods of this research was textual analysis, a tradition used in media studies. The result showed that women sexuality had been utilized as a form of constructing unchallenged image about women in Indonesia. State ideology, religion, and Javanese culture had strong impact to gender inequality in the society that influenced the song writer.
