Abstract :
This article examines the issue of woman status from demographic perspective. The importance of the issue has been increasing together with a rising attention of lately on efforts to improve woman status, especially in relation to a policy of decreasing fertility. In developing countries, as a matter of fact, increasing attention on woman status has started since 1970’s and this has been driven by a conviction that increasing woman status would contribute toward efforts of decreasing fertility.
