Abstract :

Background: Bullying has been recognized as a social problem which peaked in late childhood to mid-teens, which is at the age of 9-15 years. Bullying behaviors cause negative impacts, both for victims and perpetrators, with varying severity. Several studies have shown a correlation between bullying behavior with self esteem. Objectives: To analyze the correlation between bullying behavior and level of self esteem on two SMPN students  in Surabaya. Methods: This study was observational analytic cross sectional. The research sample was taken with a cluster sampling technique. The research instrument was a revised-Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire (OBVQ), and Rosenberg Self-Esteem (SES) questionnaire. Results:  Obtained correlation between bullying behavior and the level of self-esteem, and correlation between level of self-esteem with classes. Conclusion: There is positive correlation between bullying behavior and low self esteem of two junior high  schools students in Surabaya.
