Abstract :
The aim of this study was to analyze the application of Three Major Program of Health Promoting School (TRIAS UKS) at Public Elementary School Polowijen I and III in Malang. This was observational study using cross-sectional design, with qualitative approach. The informants were The Coaching Team including health sector, educational sector, religion sector and local government, as well as Perpetrator Team including School’s Headmaster, the coaching teachers, and parents representative from school committee of both SDN Polowijen I and III. Results showed that overall the application of TRIAS UKS in both schools were in good category in standard levels (86.6% and 83.3%, respectively). However, the availability of facilities supporting the application of TRIAS UKS were less than 80% so it has been classified into less supporting (50–79%). Human resources involved in the coaching team were inadequate. The implementation of government policies was: there were routinely and periodically coordination and cooperation, but without routine meeting. Moreover both monitoring and evaluation were performed by each sector. For facilities as well as financing of each activity of TRIAS UKS in both schools, was taken from state, local, pertinent school and school committee funds. School policies were integrated into the disciplines of both schools. As for the roles of Headmaster, UKS’ teachers and parents in both schools were altogether involved in health education activities, health services and health school environment contruction. It was suggested to enhance coordination between coaching team, perpetrator team, and parents in school committee to gain to optimal function of Health Promoting School. As a conclusion, the application of TRIAS UKS in both groups was related to the facilities, human resources, both government and school policies, and the role Perpetrator Team.
