Abstract :

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumour most often found among head and neck malignancies in Indonesia. Patientsare commonly admitted in a severe condition and most frequently NPC is WHO III type and this WHO type has close relationship to EBV.Serological test on the antibodies directed against the Epstein-Barr virus viral Capsid Antigen (VCA) which have been recognized as tumormarker for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) are used to help in the diagnosis of this malignancy with ELISA method. The result show that80% of NPC patients were positive for IgA-VCA antibodies that related to EBV infection.
