Abstract :
Abstract Globally, there are only a third of reliable cause of death statistics are registered. A lack of vital registration to provide a representative data mostly found in development countries. One of new technique in death registration system recently improved and used in many countries is verbal autopsy. Verbal autopsy is a method to identify cause of death through an interview with the caregivers about the sign and symptoms, using a standarized questionaire. The outputs of these questionaires are ICD-10 classified caused diseases. The main purpose of verbal autopsy is to identify a level and a cause of death in a community. The conclusion is that verbal autopsy could be an alternative solution to improve the quality of death registration system in development countries, especially Indonesia.
