Abstract :

Intellectual  giftedness  brings  several  consequences  that  could  hamper  social  relationships between  gifted  children  and their peers.  In an attempt  to overcome  the conf lict  between  the need to  make  friends  and  the  need  to  achieve  excellence  in  the  areas  of  interest,  then  the  gifted  children have  experienced  the  process  of  social  adjustment.  The  subject  of  this  qualitative  research  is three gifted children who study in the regular classes in the school. The results show that there are six protective factors supporting the adaptive achievement of social adjustment: mother's knowledge  about  giftedness,  maternal  support,  communication  between  parent  and  teacher , teacher's  knowledge  about  giftedness,  teachers'  support,  and  positive  character  of  the  child.
