Abstract :

Overdispersion occure when varians value of response greater than its mean and overdispersion on Poisson regression model result bias parameter estimation. Generalized Poisson Regression can be used as an alternative because it’s a regression method that can be used in overdispersion and underdispersion data. Maternal Mortality count in East Java is the one of discrete data. The study aimed to modelling maternal mortality count in East Java in 2013 with Generalized Poisson Regression to overcome overdispersion in Poisson Regression. Research was an unobtrusive study and data was gotten from the East Java Provincial Health Profile 2013. There was overdispersion because maternal mortality count has variance value (126,205) greater than mean (17), thus Generalized Poisson Regression used as an alternative. Predictors that influenced maternal mortality count was paramedic ratio towards civil population (p=0,0006), so the model of maternal mortality is() = exp [3,7619 - 0,028(X3)]. If nurse ratio increase 10% and other predictors constant, maternal mortality count will decrease 0,75 times if compared to before.
