Abstract :

Pregnant women experience physical and psychological changes that occur due to an imbalance of progesterone and estrogen; the female hormone that is in the mother's body from the onset of pregnancy. All the physical changes that occur in pregnant women result in psychological changes. Anxiety is one of emotional disturbance that are often found in pregnant women, especially for pregnant women at first. Pregnancy exercise is one of the alternative ways that can help pregnant women to cope with her anxiety. The type of this study is observational analytic. The time of the study it is used cross sectional. The study sample is women who experience the first pregnancy that follow pregnancy exercise at The Public Health Center of Jagir District – Wonokromo Surabaya. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. The data is collected by observation and interview with HRSA questionnaire using a HRSA scale that is processed using the Spearman correlation with test cross tabulation. The result of calculation using the Spearman correlation test is obtained p = 0,000 with a correlation coefficient - 0,704, it means there is a strong correlation between the pregnancy exercise participation to primigravid anxiety to face the childbirth. The conclusion is more often the pregnant women participate in pregnancy exercise so, the anxiety level decreasing. The pregnancy exercise participation has a strong correlation in facing the childbirth.
