Abstract :

Inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), the key enzyme in the breakdown of acetylcholine, is considered as a promising strategy for the treatment of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, senile dementia, ataxia and myasthenia gravis. A  thin-layer chromatography (TLC) autography was used to screen for finding better AChE inhibitors from natural resources. Using this methods this research showed that each of ethanol extracts of Syzygium cumini leaves, Syzygium aromaticum leaves, Syzygium polyanthum leaves, Syzygium aquaeum leaves had an acetylcholinesterase inhibitors activity.
