Radiology based detection of osteoporosis in ovariohysterectomized cat (felis silvestris catus)

Abstract :

The purpose of this research is to find out the changes of bone density and the possibility of osteoporosis through radiological examination in ovariohysterectomized cats. Twenty cats used in this study consisted ten cats that have been ovariohysterectomized for at least six months and ten intact cats. All cats were radiologically examined with the focus location at proximal femur. X-ray result were interpreted and scored by means of Singh Index. Mann-Whitney test (Independent sample t-test) using SPSS 17.0 for Windows showed no significant differences on the radiology interpretation scoring of osteoporosis between ovariohysterectomized and intact cats.
