The effect of topical binahong leaf extract to value and lukocyte (white blood cell) differential counting in burn wound healing on rats (rattus norvegicus)

Abstract :

Binahong leaf (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steenis) can be used to improve wound healing activity. The aims of this research were to study the effectivity of binahong and study the differences effectivity of binahong leaf extract ointment on the total value and leukocyte (White blood cell) differential counting with concentration 2,5%, 5% and 10%. The parameter that used in this research were total value and leukocyte differential counting. This research using laboratory experimental method. The subject in this research were 24 rats which divided into 6 groups, namely P0 (normal), P1 (rats with burn without treatment), P2 (silver sulfhadiazine) and treatment group with concentration 2,5%, 5% and 10% of binahong leaf extract ointment. Research result shows that not significantly total value, eosinophils, neutrophils, basophils and monocyte. But research result shows that significantly limphosit with group P1 significanly (p<0,05) with P0, P2, P3, P4 and P5 but group P1 not significantly with P5 (p>0,05). The compounds of binahong leaf extract is flavonoid, saponin, terpenoid, alkaloid and tanin that contains antibiotic, antiinflamation and antiseptic.
