Anterior lamellar reposition with lid split in management of severe upper eyelid cicatricial entropion

Abstract :

The purpose of this case report is to report the result of combined procedure, anterior lamellar reposition (ALR) with lid split in management of severe upper eyelid cicatricial entropion. Severe cicatricial entropion on upper eyelid patients who underwent ALR with lid split procedure by one surgeon and performed under local anesthesia, from Mei 2006 until April 2008 retrospectively reviewed. There were 10 patients (20 eyes), who diagnosed as severe cicatricial entropion, 2 patients caused by Stevens Johnson syndrome and 8 patients caused by trachoma stage 4, 2 patients among this cases had tarsotomy operation (SBL) more than twice. All patients had undergone this procedure, 9 patients achieved good results and 1 patient caused by Stevens Johnson syndrome had recurrences. Successful management in upper eyelid cicatricial entropion depends on cause and severity. ALR with lid split is an alternative procedure to manage the severe cicatricial entropion.
