Abstract :

Pathological myopia is defined as high myopia conjunction with any pathological changes, especially in posterior segment of the eye and the degree of myopia increase progressively ± 4.00D every year. Inherited factor are more important for the occurrence of the pathological myopia. Pathological myopia is a degeneration process and not an inflammation. Most of the changes occurred on the posterior segment. The complication that usually occurred are floaters, scotoma, cataract, retinal detachment and glaucoma. Management of pathological myopia include spectacles, contact lens, environment modification, surgery, laser fotocoagulation, IOP evaluation and patients education.
