Abstract :

The objective of this study is to correlate the mean Central Corneal Thickness and age, gender and intraocular pressure (IOP)and compare the mean CCT among POAG, NTG and Ocular Hipertension. The cross-sectional study included 82 eyes (subjects): 32subjects with POAG, 34 subjects with NTG and 16 subjects with Ocular Hipertension. Refraction, slit-lamp examination, pachymetryand Goldmann Applanation Tonometry measurement were done. Descriptive analysis, comparation and correlation analysiswere done using SPSS (version 15.0) programme. A p-value of < 0.05 was considered significant. The mean age of subjects were60.50 ± 12.685 years, 49 of 82 subjects were female. The overall mean CCT was 532.05 μm ± 41.926. A weak negative correlationwas found between CCT and age (p = 0.010, r = –0,283). Subjects > 60 years had a thinner CCT than < 60 year. No significantcorrelation was found between CCT and gender. However a weak positive correlation was found between CCT and IOP(p = 0.024, r= 249). There was no significant difference in mean CCT between POAG and NTG, POAG and OHT, but the mean CCT in the groupwith NTG was significantly lower than that in the group with OHT (p = 0.013). A weak negative correlation was found between CCTand age. Patient > 60 years have thinner CCT than who ≤ 60 years. A weak positive correlation was found between CCT and IOP.Patiens with NTG have a thinner CCT than do patients with OHT.
