Correlation of coping strategy with quality of life among patients schizophrenia remission symptoms

Abstract :

This study aimed to know correlation between coping strategies and quality of life amongpatients with schizophrenia remission symptoms. Total number of subjects was 20 patients.Sampling technique used was accidential sampling. Criteria of sample in this study are (1)patients who were diagnosed with schizophrenia by psychiatrist, (2) in remission symptoms,determined by low score on each aitem in BPRS scale. Adaptive coping were examined usingcoping strategy scale consists of 34 items (coeficient alpha Cronbarch is 0,904) created by theauthor, and schizophrenia's quality of life examined by adaptation of SQLS (Self-report Qualityof Life Measure for People with Schizophrenia) consisted of 30 items (coeficient alpha Cronbarchis 0,844) created by Diane Wild (2010). Data were analyzed by statistical product moment'sPearson. Results obtained correlation value are 0,757 and significance level are 0.001. Thissuggests that there is a positive correlation between coping strategies and quality of life inpatients with schizophrenia remission symptoms .
