Detection of lyzozyme activity of kakap merah lutjanus sp which have bactericidal activity

      Abstract :

      The research was deal with the production of lyzozyme of serum, kidney and mucous of Kakap merah Lutjanus sp which have a bactericidal activity. Bactericidal activity of lyzozyme ia need as a defense mechanism against bacterial infection. Different organ have an different bactericidal substance which depend on the organ tested. Bactericidal activity can be find on the mucous, serum, kidney and eggs. The substance composed of mainly glycoprotein, believed as a blood precursor and hemolymph in invertebrate.Lyzozyme was detected from kidney, mucous and serum with the Turbidimetric assay (Parry et al., 1965). One unit of lyzozyme activity is defined as the amount of sample causing a decrease in absorbance (530 nm) of 0.001/min. Another assay was Lysoplate assay (Lie et al., 1986) by using agarose gel with hen egg white lyzozyme (EWL) as a standart. The lyzozyme activity was detected from kidney, serum and mucous, the lyzozyme production in those three organ were almost equal. The production of lyzozyme are different between fishes. The conclusion are lyzozyme was producted by kidney, mucous and serum with the different concentration.
