      Abstract :

The objective of this study is to identify the quality of marketed glibenclamide tablets of 5 mg using content homogeneity and dissolution efficiency parameters. This research was carried out on products of six pharmaceutical industries namely by coding was PMA products (A, B), PMDN products (C, D), Generic products (E, F) and innovator A as a selected standard. Referring to Farmakope Indonesia 4th edition 1995 procedure, the content homogenity content was determined, whereas dissolution assessment was used paddle method with phosphate buffer pH 7.4 as media . The result of content homogeneity analyses showed that A, B, and F products meet the standard requirement; as in contrast to C, D and E products that exceded for the standard requirement. Dissolution assessment data revealed there were significantly different in the dissolution profile between the five products compared to A. The deviation of dissolved glibenclamide in 90 minutes (ED90) B, C, D, E, and F compared with A is -7.06%, -45.67%, -46.99%, +26.99%, +20.97%, respectively. Statistical analysis ( = 0.05) for ED90 value showed the significantly different of ED90 between five products compared with A. In conclusion there was significantly different of quality of glibenclamide 5 mg products.
