Abstract :
The aimed of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between peer attachment with emotion regulation in adolescent who become a student in boarding school. The peer attachment in this study are referred to theory by Armsden & Greenberg (2007), while emotion regulation is referred to Thompson (1994). The study was conducted on 95 teenagers who become a student in boarding school. The sampling technique used was purposive random sampling. Data collection devices are questionnaire, the form of scale peer attachment and emotion regulation scale are developed by the authors. Each scale consists of 50 valid items. The reliability of the peer attachment scale is 0.859 and the realibility of emotion regulation is 0.805. Data analysis was performed with the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique using SPSS 16.0 for windows. Result of the data analysis show that the correlation (r) between peer attachment and emotion regulation is 0.274 (low correlation) with significance (p) is 0.0035. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It showed that there is a positive relationship between peer attachment with emotion regulation in adolescent who become a student in boarding school. Positive relationship between peer attachment with emotion regulation in adolescent who become a student in boarding school indicate that higher perceptions peer attachment, the lower the emotion regulation, and vice versa.
