Abstract :

Abstract: Infestation  of bowel  worm  especially Enterobiasis vermicularis  is one  of health  problems in Indonesia and mostly found  in children  at elementary school age. Objective of this research was to analyze  correlation between hands and nails hygiene with Enterobiasis incidence in student of grade IV and V in SDN Kenjeran No. 248. This research was observational and done with analytic cross-sectional design. Questionnaire to identify risk factors was done in order to collect  data and each child’s stool samples were taken using scotch adhesive tape for parasitological test. This research samples were 47 grade IV and V students. The result from inspection showed that 19 students had dirty hands and nails hygiene. The result obtained from laboratory showed that respondent who was positive  with egg  were 20 students, and based on coefficient Phi statistic  test obtained ϕ = 0.512.  It is concluded that correlation of hands and nails hygiene and the Enterobiasis incidence is strong.  It is suggested that the teachers should inspect the student’s hands and nails hygiene regularly, the students should keep the hygiene of their hands and nails, and local Puskesmas should control worm infection  early and check the Enterobius vermicularis  regularly because of helminthiasis transmitted disease.   Keywords: hygiene of hands and nails, elementary school student, enterobiasis    Abstract: Infestation  of bowel  worm  especially Enterobiasis vermicularis  is one  of health  problems in Indonesia and mostly found  in children  at elementary school age.
