Latrine ownership and incidence of diarrhea at karangagung, palang, tuban

Abstract :

Based on data 2008  from the Public Health office  Tuban  regency, Palang Public Health Center  has  a most number higher  incidence of diarrhea  of 1.956  people from the  total population 42.876  people (4.56%).  The  highest number diarrhea outbreak village in the area of Palang Clinic workplace is Karangagung village with 543 inhabitants  from the population of 8.545 people (6.36%). This study  aims to analyze  assosiation the diarrhea occurrence and toilet. This research was  conducted with a cross-sectional design. Observation and uisioner  charging  on 100 respondents. The sampling method was used simple random  sampling in systematic random. The free variables are latrine ownership and utilization, the occurrence variable was bound diarrhea and the moderator variables include food sanitation, clean water, drinking water, waste  handling,  fly control,  and personal hygiene, and also education, work and knowledge.  Interpret data using  interpretation table and chi-square test to prove the truth hypothetical. From the results  of the chi-square test of the relationship  with the occurrence and diarrhea toilet in the Karangagung village, Palang district, Tuban  regency generate significant  with p = 0.004  while the use  is 5% or 0.05.  So 0.05 > 0.004  mean  H0 rejected. The conclusion there was relationship  between toilet ownership with diarrhea outbreak in the Karangagung village, Palang district, Tuban regency. Therefore  the participation  of the community on toilet ownership needs to be  improved through  counseling activities and for those who have is provided counseling so their toilet has used well.   Keywords: Toilet ownership, diarrhea incidence
