Abstract :

Catfish is one of the species comodity freshwater who cultured on comercial by Indonesia’s society especially in Java Island. Since at the hatchery, fry needed feed with highly crude protein. Feeding artificial with highly protein increased on cost. The solution  that could be making a self-made feeding using a high-protein feed ingredients are easily obtained such as earthworms. The aim of this  Field Work Practice is to improve knowledge and skilled about feeding alternative process made of basic  earthworm (lumbricus sp.) in the form of flake and  the effect of growth for catfish fry. This Field Work Practice was held in Unit Pengelola Budidaya Air Tawar which located in Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, Province of East Java started from January 16th until February 16th 2012. Work method which used was descriptive method by collecting primary data and secondary data. The data was collected by active participation, observation, interviewing, and study paper. Unit Pengelola Budidaya Air Tawar (UPBAT) Kepanjen is Unit Pengelola Teknis (UPT) Departement of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Province of East Java. Feeding alternative process made of basic earthworm (Lumbricus sp.) in the form of flake composed by several stage is milling meal, griding, scaling, making binder, mixing meal, typing, drying, and storage. Proximate analysis indicated Crude Protein (CP) value of feed flake is 28.52 % with Dry Matter (DM) 87,16 %. The results of the evaluation of growth catfish frys in UPBAT Kepanjen feeding by fed flake is lower than catfish fry feeding by fed manufacture that had a more complete nutrient content.
