Abstract :

Porong River began to experience changes in the environment caused by industrial waste and PT. Lapindo Brantas mudflow that seeks to throw into the sea via the Porong river in the Madura Strait. The Porong river water flowing creeks around the sea, one of which is a long river Jabon subdistrict potentially bring heavy metal lead (Samsundari and Perwira, 2011). Filtration media that can be used to treat water is with zeolite and activated charcoal is a good combination to perform filtration (and Setyo Nugroho, 2013). This study aims to determine the effect of zeolite and activated charcoal filtration in lowering the concentration of lead (Pb) on a sample of pond water. The experiment consisted of five treatments and four replications, P1 (without zeolite and activated charcoal), P2 (125 grams of zeolite and 25 grams of activated charcoal), P3 (100 grams of zeolite and 25 grams of activated charcoal), P4 (75 grams of zeolite and 25 grams activated charcoal) and P5 (50 grams of zeolite and 25 grams of activated charcoal) l (Pb). The results showed that the difference in concentrations of zeolite and activated charcoal significantly different to the decline of heavy metal concentrations of lead. The decline in the most optimal concentration of lead is indicated in treatment P4 (75 grams of zeolite and 25 grams of activated charcoal) amounted to 69.48%. This study indicated that zeolite can be applied as filter filler for reducing cadmium.
