Abstract :
Clean water is one of the most critical resources and also a serious problem encountered by most of big cities in Indonesia. The problem leads to highly economic consequence. This paper aim is to value economically clean water in Surabaya city, one of the big cities in Indonesia and also a capital of east java. The valuation is limited to household sector. Actually, there several methods to estimate the economic value of clean water. However, this paper introduces two methods: market price and preventive cost. The first method is used to value the economic value of clean water from a quantity aspect, and the second one is used to value from quality aspect. These valuation methods result the economic value of clean water in Surabaya is Rp 430.1 billion
