Abstract :

Bioautography of a novel antibiotic produced by fermentation process of Streptomyces griseus ATCC 10137 had been investigated by using streptomycin standard. High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography had been carried out by using KH2PO4 5% solution as a solvent, and Bacillus subtilis PCI 219 as a bacterial test. Bioautogram showed that Rf value of spot derived from the antibiotic extract isolated from the fermentation filtrate is 0.65, which has significant different with Rf value of streptomycin standard 0.15. It was found that the antibiotic and streptomycin standard inhibited growth of Bacillus subtilis PCI 219.
