Abstract :

Introduction: Fatty acids are well known for its decaying effects among people nowadays. In fact, there are several fatty acids which have the ability to repair the lipid profile in blood. Purpose: The aim of this research was to find out the comparison of saturated fatty acids, mono unsatturated fatty acids, and poly unsatturated fatty acids supplemented in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty four mice, divided in 4 group, were given three different oilswhich contain different fatty acids for three weeks. Group K0 were given aquades as a placebo (control group). Group K1 was given a virgin coconut oil, group K2 was given a sunflower oil, and group K3 was given an olive oil. Every groups were given the same amount of dosage which was 0,5gr/200grBB. The blood were collected using syringe intracardially. The blood samples were checked to find out the amount of lipid profile solved. The data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA design with SPSS 18 software. The LDL, HDL, and total cholesterol in K1 (p=0,374), K2 (p=0,975), and K3 (p=0,761) were not decreased nor increased significantly. In the other hand, there were significant differences (p<0,05) found in every groups in terms of triglyceride with p value = 0,004. Olive oil (K3) have successfully decreased triglyceride significantly compared to K1 (p=0,006), and K2 (p=0,002). Meanwhile, virgin coconut oil had also made significant differences which was higher compared to K0 (p=0,021) and K3 (p=0,006). Least, sunflower oil had made significant differences which was also higher compared to K0 (p=0,008) and K3 (p=0,002). In conclusion: olive oil were able to repair the lipid profile which in this case triglyceride while sunflower oil and virgin coconut oil were increasing the triglyceride significantly.
