Abstract :

A tissue damaged include hepar cells and tissue because of heavy physical activity  has been  reported. Sama researchers reported that there is increasing of intracellular enzymes level in the blood serum because of this activity. The research aimed to study about the physical training impact on the liver function in terms of the effect of the preparation period training program towards the liver function on the athletes of PON XVIII2012 potential contingent  of KONI South Sulawesi. The subject was 53 athletes, 16 – 33 years old. The measurement of GPT (glutamic pyruvic transaminase) value was conducted on the subjects before and after attending this training program. This was an observational research with prospective study design. The research only evaluated the liver function change with the physical training program for three months. The data obtained were analyzed by Wilcoxon’s test. The result indicates that there is the liver function difference of subjects before and after attending the preparation period training program. However, Wilcoxon’s test ρ = 0,199 (ρ > 0,05) indicates that there is no significant impact of the preparation period training program on the liver function change to these athletes. The research result proves that the preparation period training program influences the athletes liver function marked by the improvement of GPT value, but it is still in the natural limit. Therefore, it can be concluded that the preparation period training program on the potential contingent athletes of PON XVIII 2012 which is arranged by the coaches of KONI South Sulawesi applies the proper physical training principles.
