The fertility of dairy cows that oestrous synchronized by using prostaglandin f2α vulvar submucosal injection

Abstract :

This research was conducted to determine fertility of Frisian Holstein cows after oestrous synchronization using PGF2α administration through vulvar sub mucosal injection, based on incidence of oestrous, ovulation rate, pregnancy rate and calving rate compared to oestrous synchronization using PGF2α intramuscularly injection. Thirty cows divided into three groups equally. The first group, cows injected using 25 mg intramuscular, meanwhile the second and third groups, cows injected with 7.5 and 5 mg vulvar sub mucosal respectively. Result of the research indicated that the incidence of oestrous of all treatment groups were 100%. Progesterone serums concentration indicated that all the cows in luteal phase (high-level progesterone) before injection, follicular phase (basal level progesterone) in oestrous, and continued with ovulation (high-level progesterone on 7th day of the oestrous). There was no significant difference on pregnancy rate and calving rate among treatments (P>0.05). It could concluded that administration of PGF2α by vulvar sub mucosal injection was effective to stimulate oestrous, ovulation, high pregnancy and calving rate of cows.
