Abstract :
Introduction:External fixation of tibial bone can be used as a definitive treatment in managing open fracture of tibial bone which can give a stability and easy wound care. Objective: To know the comparison between unilateral external fixation frame and modified bilateral external fixation frame using model of tibial fracture of a Java goat. Method: This research is an experimental laboratory study with post test only controlled group design. 24 samples of tibial bone of Java goats are divided into control group and intervension group Result: In biomechanical test we did, the result shows that there was a significant difference in modified bilateral external fixation frame group compared to unilateral external fixation frame group in term of bone rigidity with bending force (p = 0,007), torsion force (p = 0,001) and compression force (p = 0,028). Conclusion: Modified bilateral external fixation frame has a more significant stability which affects the bone rigidity compared to unilateral external fixation frame based on 1.3 times on bending force, 3.1 times on torsion force, and 2.5 times on compression force.
