Abstract :
The rise of the development of manga in Indonesia is not out of enthusiasm for fans of manga. Genre and a lower price with a more interesting part of comics Europe to make fans of manga rise more among teenagers Surabaya. Fans of manga with the intensity of reading, certainly has the reading experience respectively. The reading experience to not only encourage their fans simply read the manga only, but also encourages them to perform activities related to the manga, one of which is joined in manga fandom. This qualitative study perspective of Cultural Studies attempted to reveal the meaning behind the behavior of fans of the manga which is a text culture, which means trying to understand these texts that does not just talk about literature, but also follows a variety of other related cultural products, among other films, costumes, merchandise/products of other cultures, or synergistic activity other. This study produced typical divergent and convergent manga fandom. Divergent manga fandom is a fan who develop many various efforts to always read manga, be active fan following of more than one fan community and expand synergistic activity. Convergence manga fandom is a fan only make one effort to reading manga, who only attended one fan community and develop only one type of activity.
