Abstract :

The objective of this study was to provethat regulated tima and size for feeding in poultry may produce broiler with lower meat fat concentration but with high protein concentration. This study used factorial complete randomized design with experimental animals of 48 Lohman Strain (MB 202 P) that were subjected to two types of treatment, i.e., (1) feeding size with two variations, the standard feeding size (J1) twice a day (W2), and three times a day (W3). Treatment was repeated 8 times, which could be described in factorial pattren as (2x3)x8. Treatment was given for 20 days from age 15 to 34 days. At the and of the study, on day 35 at 06.00 AM a blood sample was taken from brachial veins as much as 5 cc for GH and IGF-I concentration and measured by elisa method. The broilers were than scaled for samples of meat from drumstick, breast, and back, each 5 g, were taken for examining fat concentration  using Soxhiet method and meat protein using maram steel method. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). When the difference was found, the analysis was followed with duncan test. Result revealed that combination of feeding time and size W2J2 resulted in significantly increase of GH concentration (p<0.05) compared to order treatments. W2J2 treatment resulted in the most optimum GH secretion, leading to the increase of meat protein concentration, reduction of meat fat concentration. It can be concluded that feeding time twice a day with feeding size 10% less than standard size result in the enhancement of GH secretion, cousing in the increase of meat protein concentration, reduction of meat fat concentration of the broiler
