Abstract :
The objectives of this study were: 1) to assess vegetavle contribution in nutrient intake (vitamin and mineral) of pre-school children, 2) to identify the factors that influence vegetable consumption of pre-school children, 3) to study the relationship between the kind and processing of vegetable, frequency of vegetable consumption, feeding vegetable pattern, introducing vegetable for the first time and availability of vegetable in household with vegetable consumption of pre-school children. The study conducted in six months, in Simomulyo village, Sukomanunggal sub-district, Surabaya Regency. For this purpose 100 pre-school children (3-5 years old) were selected randomly. Socio-economic data were collected by using questionnaier, vegetable consumption pattern data were collected by using recall method. The data were analyzed statistically by using Chi-Square and Multiple Logistic Regression. The result of this study show that: 1) the avarage of vegetable consumption were 50,9 gram/capita/day, lower than avarage vegetable consumption allowances for pre-school children (75 gram/capita/day). Vitamin C intake was lower than RDA (47,5% RDA), vitamin A and phosphor intake were higher than RDA (>100% RDA). Calcium intake still lower than RDA (72,4% RDA) and iron intake was moderate (87,5% RDA); 2) vegetable contribution in nutrition intake (vitamin and mineral) was very low. Vegetable contribution on pre-school children that their vegetable cinsumption equal with allowances was higher than pre-school children that their vegetable consumption unequal with allowances (the vegetable contribution more than 70%); 3) the factors that have relationship with vegetable consumption were feeding vegetable pattern (persuade), introducing vegetable for the first time (>12-24 months old), leaves vegetable, boiled vegetable, everyday vegetable sonsumption pattern, and the availability of vegetable in household. The factor that influence vegetable consuption was feeding vegetable pattern (persuade) (p
